Happy Anniversary!

Happy three year anniversary to me and Tomek for yesterday. Wow - we survived. And neither of us is missing any limbs (to my knowledge!) This makes me super duper happy ;)

Story Time

When I was a kid (ok, and well into my teens) our parents read us a lot of books. This is one of the things I look forward to most about having babies of my own. There were so many incredible stories, a lot of them with fantastic illustrations.

Here are just a few of my personal favorites...what are yours?

My absolute favorite: The Finn Family Moomintroll books.

Anything and EVERYTHING by Roald Dahl...

I mean who can say no especially when they're illustrated by Quentin Blake???

My addiction to Enid Blyton books didn't stop at The Faraway Tree. Hey - she wrote alot!

Narnia Narnia Narnia and all the wonderful illustrations I remember well.

Charlotte's Web. Teary teary times...

Five Children and It...Very weird. Very awesome.

Loved these books!

I wanted a babysitter like Mr. Pudgins so badly!

A wonderful rolliking adventure story that Steiner kids get read.

Gia (1960-1986)

I watched that film about Gia the other day. It left me feeling sad and kind of mournful (and not just because I think Angelina Jolie is an overrated actress who totally overacts everything)
Gia is considered by many to be the first supermodel. She was also one of the first famous women to die of AIDS.
I feel mesmerized by her. She was incredibly beautiful and feminine to look at but in reality she acted like a tomboy who couldn't care less about her looks. She walked around naked, threw tantrums, dressed like a dag and flaunted her lesbian relationship even though it wasn't the done thing back then.
She was young, wild and clueless. And though this must have been refreshing coming from an industry that is known for producing vapid and contrived individuals perhaps it wasn't practical enough.
Gia's addiction to heroin cost her her career, her relationships and ultimately her life.
She died at 26 from AIDS.

Confession Time:

I LOVE Billie Piper. You see, I can admire sophisticated, elegant, never-a-hair-out-of-place celebrities but they are so far removed from how I am that I don't really care about them at all. Billie on the other hand...

Doesn't pretend that life is impossibly easy and endlessly glamorous.

Hauls out the Pollyanna look every now and then. And isn't trapped by a single style.

Doesn't feel the need to parade around in ballgowns all the time.

Isn't afraid to get dirty...

...or cross the line.

Stars as Rose in Dr. Who. Enough said.

Has fabulousness that is up there with the rest of them when it needs to be.

Survived childhood stardom and teen marriage much more elegantly than many of her peers.

Is pretty darn hot...

And rocks the trampy Brit look with aplomb (one of my personal fave looks)

If Tomek was a ken doll...

I'd suggest chinos...

And strongly encourage him to invest in some phenomenally expensive red suede Gucci loafers.

A tight RL polo would probably work well with these.

But for the evenings something (slightly) more professional.

A touch of the sleaze factor just for good measure? The gold chain, without a doubt.

We'd hang out at the beach on Saturdays...

Listening to 60s music on his Ipod.

I might even ply him with a few cocktails...

...and then pressure him into getting a tattoo. (one he can be proud of of course!)

On Sunday I would shout him a healthy breakfast (of the sort of food I like to eat)

And we would plan our next holiday. To Greece I think.

Yoga classes to keep me warm in winter...

A kindle. Duh!

Girly time with my friends & family.

A fantastic camera to record things.

This Fiona Satin eyemask that I've looked at for 2 years!

Some disco coloured Dior eyeshadow.

A day on the beach in the sun.

A new wardrobe. New leopard print tights in particular.
